Adam J. Morris, partner, is a board certified family lawyer who has worked in family law for over ten years.  He has been named a Rising Star by Texas Monthly magazine each of the past four years, and handles a wide range of family law issues, with a particular focus in cases involving complex marital estates.

Adam is originally from Fort Worth, Texas . He earned his bachelor of arts in History from the University of Texas in Austin . Adam worked in a number of fields during his years at the University of Texas , including spending time as an accountant and as a travel agent. While finishing up his degree, he happened to be recommended to a divorce attorney in Austin to assist with a two-day project. Once the project was wrapped up, he was asked to stay on to help with another, and then another, ultimately spending almost three years working as a legal assistant with the firm. Adam enjoyed the experience so much, he decided to pursue his interest in family law by becoming a lawyer. He graduated magna cum laude from the University of Houston Law Center in May of 2002.

As a law student, Morris was an associate editor with the Houston Law Review and an associate editor with the Journal of Law and Science. He also was a member of the mock trial team and won several mock trial competitions such as the American Association for Justice Regional Tournament. In 1999, Morris also began working at Short & Jenkins as a law clerk, and accepted a position at the firm as an associate in 2002, before leaving to become a founding partner in Short Carter Morris at the beginning of 2008.

Morris has co-authored several continuing legal education articles for the State Bar of Texas and has been a speaker at the Marriage Dissolution Institute and the Advanced Paralegal Seminar. He is also a member of the Family Law Section of the State Bar of Texas, the Houston Bar Association, the Burta Rhodes Raborn Inns of Court, the Texas Academy of Family Law Specialists and the Gulf Coast Family Law Specialists.

Adam is married. He and his wife Bethany live in Houston, Texas with their son, Seth.
